Georg Jensen Silver Cup, Large - Grape #296C
Georg Jensen Silver Cup, Large - Grape #296C
Designed by: Georg Jensen (1866-1935) in 1928
Georg Jensen’s silver cup is in the Art Nouveau style with characteristic ornamental curved lines and decorative ornaments of flora and fauna. The Grape Motif was first introduced in 1918 on the Grape Bowls.
In these hollowware pieces Georg Jensen has incorporated nature as decoration. The surface of the actual cup and the foot has the characteristic hammer marks, which Georg Jensen used to soften the reflection of light in the silver in order to create the greyish shimmer he associated with moonshine.
